@0xNerevar Well the argument is clumsily made but better living thru PKI (or "decentralization" thru PKI) aligns quite well with the hyperindividuation process inherent in advanced capitalism that accelerates and incentivizes the weakening of social bonds (churches, families).

@0xNerevar The "server" locus of control scales well to federation of these preexisting trustful groups. Bluesky and nostr and DAOs all build from an individualistic emphasis on assym keys and individual natural-or-legal persons... "the unit of capitalism is the subject, not the group/fam"

@0xNerevar Calling it unnecessary is needlessly smug, it might prove necessary to AP as it evolves, and calling fediverse inherently anticap is tendentious. But I get where he's coming from, silicon Valley/a16z/crypto all take hyper individualism as a naturalized starting point...

@0xNerevar And define decentralization, freedom, and progress in antistate, hyperindividual terms at the expense of any concept of bottoms-up organization or sociability. Thus, deep masto heads smugly equate anti-SV open source with effective anticapitalism (necessary but insuffic imho).
