@matdryhurst Step back a little and wonder at the macro-level issue here: the VC-addled software/hype industry is making stupid claims about an industry it knows nothing about, again. Replace "music" with... idunno, "supply chain" or "restaurant" or "hospitality" or any industry.

@matdryhurst I've been following all this a long time and I work across a lot of industries and I think the dynamics you point to about the "middle of the bell curve" is an astute class analysis grounded in knowing that industry well. Similar ones could be made of most industries

@matdryhurst that hanging a new internet off of a payment rail would "disrupt". Increasingly, I don't think that crypto is the next internet-- it's just the next paypal. Everyone promising to disrupt supply chains or the ___ business *as much as paypal did* are selling chaos as progress.

@matdryhurst The whole "web3/web2" hype machine is basically the promise of another paypal-esque paradigm shift. Ironically I think paypal and mastercard are great things to disrupt but I'm not sure why the music industry should risk itself to help by being front-line fodder for experiments?
