@themotionoflife Los Angeles is the same way-- I always say its a company town, and showbiz is actually the 3rd biggest industry, after real estate and finance. The same ranking is reflected in lobbying power and, thus, terrible laws that cement regulatory capture and galloping wealth inequality.
