@spydercharlotte @AnandWrites @MittRomney well I think statehood had more to do with broader geopolitical (and genocidal) strategy in the rest of the west than with the US's perceived benefits in assuming the state! but yeah, it was kind of a [socialistic] economic miracle how quickly the colony built itself up!
