@popula Hard no. I was a naïve high school kid at the time, having just read (and loved) another Ondaatje novel, and was so disappointed by that harbinger of Quality TV and contemp. middlebrow aesthetics generally. Thank you @sarahlovescali for this prehistory of pubs like Popula.
